Genesis 1:27 states “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” By the virtue of being created in God’s own image, we carry inherent in our DNA the very creative nature of God himself. It is a creative nature that when submitted to Christ and led by Holy Spirit, has the ability to release the power of the Kingdom of God in our midst, through our artistic creations.
Acts 2:17-18 states “And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams. Yes, and on My manservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy.” As we continue to grow in intimacy with Christ and obey the guidance of Holy Spirit, the more that God will trust us to release His words and revelations.
Writing as an art form uses words to create pictures much like a painter would use paint. Just as Jesus, the ultimate storyteller, used parables to release the truth in story form, writers use poems, stories, plays, movies and songs to reveal God’s heart. I believe that the same creative power that God used to create the universe, through a posture of worship, can be released through the written word. A written word that carries God’s power, can release restoration and healing by the revelation of God’s glory.
The gift of writing has been planted like a seed in the hearts of many. I believe the Holy Spirit is tending to that seed and is cultivating in the body of Christ, a group of prophetic writers moved to create art that will impact our earthly culture with Kingdom culture.
So pick up your pens and allow Holy Spirit to set them on fire and ignite your writing passion!
